Drawing the Flowers

Look at them and flowers appeal so simple. But draw them and you’ll discover how complicated they are. That’s the beauty of flowers. They tell of your hard work, patience, and effort in coming up of the loveliest array of blooms.

When you draw a flower, always learn to observe every detail. For starters, you can pick a subject that you’re most comfortable with. Note their shape, their color, the number of their petals, their stems, or even how they blossom. When you’re ready to paint or draw, make sure that you have developed an outline. It may be ideal if you can keep a live one near you, perhaps in a vase, so you can simply glance on it if you have forgotten how it looks like. Use pencils when you’re doing initial sketches. This way, it will be easy for you to make some changes.

When you have already developed the general shape of the flower, your next step is to include all of the details. This includes the thorns in a rose, the number of petals it has, the color, and even the shadows it create, just to give your drawing a more dramatic appeal. You can further strengthen the image of the flower by enhancing its lines as well as shadowed areas. Finishing touches are actually lengthy as you’re not advised to hurry the process up. You have to make sure that despite your artistry, you’re not jeopardizing the technical aspects of your sketch.
