Should You Buy Used or Brand New Ninja 250

With the sleek look of the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, you cannot help but be amazed when you see it new and enchanting you to be its first rider. What is more, you get the peace of mind that there will be no hidden defects, scratches or abused engines.

You should be aware though that Kawasaki Ninjas are priced differently according to the dealership that sells it. So do your research well to know which ones are reputable and which ones would likely offer you a better price. Take note that motorcycles that are in demand are more difficult to bargain for in terms of price, and with the Ninja 250R as a hot item, just take comfort that the additional price you pay would only mean better performance from a great looking bike. However, check out the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, there is no sense in paying more than necessary.

Buying a Used Kawasaki Ninja 250R
There are a lot of advantages to buying a used Kawasaki Ninja 250R. For one, it is more reasonably priced and not only that, great deals may be found if you know where to look.

Right now, the best place to start is the Internet via Craig’s List at http://www.craigslist.com or sites like eBay.com or more motorcycle-specific retail sites. These sites can be a gold mine for great deals from motivated sellers who for some reason or another needs to sell their current units.

Another thing that makes sense when buying a used Ninja 250R is that Kawasaki has not really upgraded much over the past few years. There is really not much difference in a 2009 model and a 2008 model, except for the price. Even brand new 2010 Ninjas are priced at least $500 more than 2009 models. In effect, you get the same look, the same engine performance at a lower price.

But what do you consider to make sure that the price is right? Here are a few ideas:

    1. Stunted Ninjas. Stay away from stunted motorcycles as this can cause a lot of damage to your engine, suspension and transmission.

    2. Stay away from salvage title Ninjas, or those that costs more to repair than just buying a new one. Always insist on a Ninja 250R that comes with a clean title.

    3. Dented frames usually equal unsafe motorcycles.

    4. Look for low mileage. Remember that 50,000 miles on a motorcycle means that it has seen better days. Try to look for a Kawasaki Ninja with less than 20,000 mile on it or for the best bet less than 7,000 miles.

If you are buying a used Ninja 250R, then be sure to buy from a dealership. The reason for this is that most dealerships often check used motorcycles that they sell, this helps you save more by just asking them what they found out. If you cannot find the Ninja 250R you like in dealerships, it is best to buy from a trusted source. A friend or a trusted seller (most sites have ratings on the reliability and trustworthiness of its sellers), or better yet have a mechanic look over the bike before buying it.
