Taser and MP3 Player in One Gadget

One of the many quirky gadgets that were recently unveiled in the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is the Taser MPH. And I tell you, it is one gadget that gives a whole new meaning to “stunning music.”
Taser MPH combines a 1GB music player with a Taser Gun, so if you happen to be rapping your way up in some dark alley and some baddies happen to get in your way, you can zap them silly and run for your life. You don’t even have to press pause and interrupt your Linkin Park in the middle of “In the End.”
This is a great gadget that effectively wards off would-be robbers with the 50,000-volt darts that shoot out. What’s more, Taser MPH appeals to the fashionistas in every one of us because it will come in a variety of cover motifs from plain black leather to leopard skins.
But seriously, a music player with a taser gun? Jaded as I am, I do think we live in a dangerous world, and it is nifty to have this kind of device on hand when you run into trouble. What’s more, you carry it around in an holster that you wear around your belt, so it is inconspicuous and you do not have to search your bags for it. I am more concerned, however, that kids might abuse this gadget. It certainly looks like a music player that you can get – or sneak – into movie theatres, malls, and even schools with it in plain view. It would not be replacing iPods, but you get what I mean. Kids could use the taser gun irresponsibly.
I have yet to check its sound quality, because it’s currently not available, but you could probably get updates as to when it comes off the production line from the company’s Web site at http://www.taser.com/
